molding, smart plastics open up exciting possibilities:Sensor-integrated components can already provide data during use - for example on load or temperature development.A simple plastic housing suddenly becomes a data supplier.<span data-start=\"\u201c949\u201d\" data-end=\"\u2018979\u2019\">Shape memory plastics<\/span> are also increasingly being used: they \u201cremember\u201d their original shape and return to it independently when the temperature changes.Ideal for medical technology applications or adaptive components in aviation, for example.<\/p><p data-start=\"1209\" data-end=\"1629\" class=\" translation-block\">Another example: <span data-start=\"\u201c1232\u201d\" data-end=\"\u201c1258\u201d\">conductive plastics<\/span>, which can be found in touchscreens, wearables or the packaging industry.<span data-start=\"\u201c1232\u201d\" data-end=\"\u201c1258\u201d\">They make it possible to integrate control elements directly into the component - without any additional electronics.<span data-start=\"\u201c1232\u201d\" data-end=\"\u201c1258\u201d\">thus creating slimmer, lighter and more functional products.<span data-start=\"\u201c1232\u201d\" data-end=\"\u201c1258\u201d\">These materials are also in demand in <span data-start=\"\u20181232\u2019\" data-end=\"\u201c1258\u201d\">lightweight automotive construction<\/span>, for example for energy-efficient control systems.<\/p><p data-start=\"1631\" data-end=\"2001\">But smart plastics can do more than just measure and react. In combination with IoT technologies, they form the basis for \u201ctalking products\u201d - i.e. components that independently transmit their status or detect faults at an early stage.
